Joe Peppard

Professor Joe Peppard holds the Chair in Information Systems at Cranfield School of Management in the UK where he is Director of the Information Systems Research Centre and the IT Leadership Forum. He is also Adjunct Professor at the University of South Australia in Adelaide. Previously, he has held academic appointments at Loughborough University (United Kingdom), Trinity College, Dublin (Ireland), Groningen University (the Netherlands), and the University of Sydney (Australia).
The focus of Professor Peppard's research and teaching is on information systems and technology strategy and management. He is widely published in academic and general business and management journals. His most recent books include Strategic Planning for Information Systems (Wiley) and Customer Relationship Management: Perspectives from the Marketplace (Butterworth-Heinemann). His book The Essence of Business Process Re-engineering (Prentice-Hall), originally published in the mid-1990's, has recently been translated into Chinese, having already appeared in Spanish and Polish editions. Professor Peppard is currently working on a book entitled Creating a Value-Adding IS Capability: Delivering High Performance, Liberating Business Value.
Professor Peppard's consulting is primarily focused on advising organizations on IT and strategy-related matters and how to generate business value from IT investments. He also works with a number of technology companies helping them with their strategy, market positioning and growth. He is European Editor of the Journal of Information Technology, an Editorial Board Member of European Management Journal and a Non-Executive Director of an IT outsourcing vendor. A former international athlete, he is a regular speaker at conferences across Europe, Asia and the US.
