Irish software company exploring new frontiers in recruitment

March 28, 2000 - Dublin - Dublin-based software firm Managed Solutions Corporation (MSC) has just ended an innovative recruitment campaign using promotional techniques more normally restricted to the field of marketing.

Back in February, MSC ran a competition in conjunction with Today FM offering a number of holiday breaks to Italy. The competition was designed to attract potential applicants to visit the company's website and review the various positions the company was recruiting for.

Jarlath Dooley, human resources manager, said: "The competition has been very successful for us and produced some remarkable results. Most notably, we saw an immediate ten-fold increase in the number of hits on our website and a subsequent surge in the number of applications received." This, he believes, is the first time that a company in Ireland has used such an approach to support their recruitment process.

The outcome of the campaign is that MSC will have increased its workforce by a staggering 50 per cent in just four months. By the end of April, the company's headcount will have risen to 150 employees.
