Saskatchewan Workers' Compensation Board Selects FINEOS

FINEOS Claims to support enhanced Customer Service and Operational Efficiency

FINEOS Corporation, a global provider of innovative enterprise software solutions for insurance and government insurance, today announced that it has been selected by the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) of Canada to deliver and implement a Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) full lifecycle claims administration system. The new solution will process claims in cases of workplace injury or death in the province of Saskatchewan. The WCB is the statutory body tasked with providing financial protection, medical benefits, and rehabilitation services to injured workers and their dependents.

FINEOS was chosen after a public tender that involved an extensive evaluation of enterprise claims solutions available in the market today. WCB chose FINEOS because of the firm’s depth of experience, a strong track record working with government agencies in the workers’ compensation market, and their world-wide knowledge of leading claims management practices. The completion of the project will help WCB reduce the number of supported technologies and positions the technology infrastructure to improve the electronic exchange of information with employers, care givers and other third parties.

According to WCB CEO, Peter Federko, “We look forward to improving both customer service and operational efficiency at WCB with FINEOS Claims. We anticipate significant improvements in the quality and consistency of our claims handling, including the ability to continually monitor and refine our processes. We believe this solution positions us to cost effectively support the current and future business objectives of WCB.”

FINEOS Claims will span the entire claims process from initial claim notification through adjudication and service planning and delivery. The system will facilitate best practice assignment and execution of claims handling processes throughout the claims lifecycle.

Michael Kelly, CEO, FINEOS Corporation, welcomed the new client. “We are truly delighted to announce this new partnership with Saskatchewan WCB. FINEOS is the leading solution in claims processing and is the global solution of choice for top tier insurers and government organizations involved in complex claims management.”

FINEOS counts a number of public insurers among its client base including the Accident Compensation Corporation (New Zealand), the Transport Accident Commission (Australia), Worksafe Victoria (Australia), Manitoba Public Insurance (Canada), the Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan (Canada), the Road Accident Fund (South Africa), the Lifetime Care and Support Authority (Australia).

About Saskatchewan’s Workers’ Compensation Board
The Saskatchewan WCB helps injured workers and their families through recovery and rehabilitation following a workplace injury. Assistance can take the form of income replacement, medical treatment, and vocational rehabilitation. In recent years, the SWCB’s mandate has evolved to include the importance of safety and injury prevention programming, and returning an injured worker to suitable employment as soon as it is medically safe to do so.

The WCB operates as a legislated and independent tribunal, reporting to the legislature of Saskatchewan. The Workers’ Compensation Act, 1979, provides the WCB’s operating authority and mandate.

The WCB:
